New URMC Laboratory Test Directory

Our Laboratory Test Directory, which includes all in-house and send-out tests offered by URMC Labs, is designed for you to use as a reference tool.  Our directory includes test ordering information, specimen type and volume, special instructions, delivery information, as well as reference ranges that include units of measure.

We continually strive to further develop and enhance the services we provide you and encourage you to visit our test index frequently to receive the latest information on our tests and services.  NOTE: The CPT-4 codes provided are for informational purposes only.  They are based upon AMA guidelines and our interpretation of CPT coding requirements.  CPT coding is the sole responsibility of the billing party.  URMC Labs assumes no responsibility for billing errors due to reliance on the CPT-4 codes listed in this test index.

Laboratory Diagnostics Committee Updates

Over the past year, the URMC Laboratory Diagnostics Committee (LDC) has obtained input from well-respected, subspecialty-trained clinicians practicing in the Rochester area.  With their expert advice, the LDC was able to assess the clinical utility of the increasing number of laboratory tests being offered by the industry.  These expert recommendations allowed the LDC to develop an efficient and robust menu of laboratory tests offered through URMC Labs.  Please review these LDC memos and forms:   LDC Test Formulary Memo      LDC Appeal Process     LDC One Time Authorization Form

Restricted Tests

We have developed a comprehensive listing of approved tests offered by URMC Labs.  Tests listed as "restricted" may only be ordered by board-certified, subspecialty-trained physicians holding Medical Staff Privileges at Strong Memorial or Highland Hospital.  For the most updated list of restricted tests, please refer to the Laboratory Test Directory.
