Remarks
Pregnancy associated plasma protein (PAPP-A) and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), and the nuchal translucency (NT) ultrasound measurement are combined to provide a risk assessment for fetal Down syndrome and trisomy 18 in the first trimester. Integrated Genetics will only accept NT measurements from sonographers who have been certified by the Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) or the Nuchal Translucency Quality Review Program (NTQR).
Patient Preparation
Blood must be drawn between 10 weeks/3 days and 13 weeks/6 days (10.4-13.9 weeks, CRL = 39-84 mm).
Specimen Preparation
2-3 mL (unhemolyzed) Serum from SST or Red top
Stability (from collection to initiation)
Room temperature: 7 days Refrigerated: 7 days
If sending frozen samples, specimens may be frozen within 7 days of the draw.
Storage/Transport Temperature
