Specimen Preparation
1-2 EDTA (Lavender top) tubes, or 1 SST. 3.0 mL EDTA plasma or serum required. Minimum 2.0 mL.
Plasma- Centrifuge and separate plasma from cells within 24 hours of collection. Transfer plasma to a polypropylene transport tube. Clearly label tube as
EDTA Plasma. If multiple tests are ordered, draw a separate tube for this test.
Serum- allow sst to clot in an upright position for at least 30 minutes, then centrifuge within 24hrs of collection. Transfer serum to a polypropylene transport tube. Clearly label tube as Serum from SST.
