Test is an aid to diagnose HIV-1 infection, confirm HIV-1 infection, or to resolve indeterminate/inconclusive HIV Differentiation results. FDA approved for diagnostic use. Can run on pediatric patient of < 2yrs old.
Specimen Preparation
2 mL (0.8 mL minimum) plasma EDTA (Lavender top). Centrifuge and separate from cells within 24 hours of collection. Aliquot plasma to transport tube and freeze. Use a dedicated aliquot tube for HIV.
Alternate specimen: Serum from SST or Plasma from Potassium PPT EDTA (White top) tube is also acceptable.
Stability (from collection to initiation)
Room temperture: 72 hours Refrigerated: 5 days Frozen: 42 days
