Patient Preparation
For ACIDP part: Obtain specimen before rectal examination, biopsy, prostatectomy or prostatic massage since manipulation of the prostate gland may lead to elevated ACIDP levels persisting for up to 24 - 48 hours.
Specimen Preparation
2.0 mL (1.0 mL minimum) Serum SST. Aliquot 1 mL for PSA and ACIDP into separate tubes.
Stability (from collection to initiation)
Room temperature: 24 hours Refrigerated: 5 days Frozen: 6 months
Unacceptable Conditions
Gross hemolysis and plasma specimen. Heat-inactivated samples or samples stabilized with azide
