Remarks
The decision to perform the 2nd Trimester Screen is based on the results of the 1st Trimester Screen (SEQ1) which must be done prior to SEQ2. Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), hCG, unconjugated estriol (uE3) and dimeric inhibin-A are measured. Sequential Screen combines these measurements with the NT and PAPP-A from the first trimester to provide a final risk assessment
Patient Preparation
Blood must be drawn between 15 weeks/0 days and 21 weeks/6 days based on ultrasound. Physician must complete the patient history information on the request form.
Specimen Preparation
SST, 2-3 mL serum required. Allow to clot. Centrifuge and separate serum. Avoid hemolysis.
Stability (from collection to initiation)
Stable room temp or refrig 7 days. If sending frozen samples, specimens must be frozen on the day of the draw.
