Collect two (2) green top tubes for this test. Chill tubes prior to collection. Patient should be calm and seated for 15 minutes prior to collection. Alternately, patient may be calm and supine for 30 minutes prior to collection. Centrifuge tubes and separate plasma from cells within 1 hour of collection. Transfer 3 mL plasma to a plastic transport tube. Clearly label tube as heparin plasma. Freeze. Critical frozen (CFZ). When multiple tests are ordered, submit separate tube for this test. Drugs and medications may affect results and should be discontinued for 72 hours prior to specimen collection if possible.
Alternate Specimen Requirements
