Preferred Specimen Requirements

10 Grams unpreserved stool. Refrigerate.
To avoid false negative results, no antibiotics, proton
pump inhibitors, or bismuth preparation should be
administered to patients for 14 days prior to sample
collection.
Note: Common bismuth and proton pump inhibitors include the
following:
bismuth: pepto-bismol, kaopectate, pink bismuth.
Proton pump inhibitors: nexium, prevacid, zegerid and
prilosec.
Current medical practice recommends that assessment of
eradication by any diagnostic method should be done at least
4 weeks following completion of therapy.
Performance characteristics have not been established in
asymptomatic populations.
Performance characteristics have not been evaluated in
pediatric population.
