At EH, MH OS, SJ: One 3.0 mL Light Green-Lithium Heparin, Blood
At JC: One Dark Green (Li)
Specimen Preparation
Specimens must be centrifuged at 3000G for 5-6 minutes as soon as possible after collection.
Storage/Transport Temperature
Specimens must be centrifuged at 3000G for 5-6 minutes as soon as possible after collection. Samples are stable at room temperature for up to 8 hours. Specimens may be refrigerated at 2-8 C for up to 48 hours. Samples that must be stored longer than 48 hours must be poured off into an aliquot tube and frozen at -20 C.
Stability (from collection to initiation)
See Storage/Transport

Reported

Section
Performed at EH Core, MH Core, JC Core, SJ Core, OS Lab
HS Troponin went live 9/22/2021
Medicare Regulated Tests
No
Reference Interval
Male <20 ng/L
EML Labs Female <15 ng/L
OS Lab Female <12 ng/L
Critical >=500 ng/L
Interpretive Data
High-sensitivity Troponin-I (HS Troponin-I) results should be interpreted in light of the total clinical presentation of the patient, including: symptoms, clinical history, ECG findings, data from additional tests, and other appropriate information. An elevated HS Troponin-I level alone is not sufficient to diagnose myocardial Infarction. Other conditions resulting in myocardial injury can cause elevated troponin levels. Serial sampling is recommended to detect the temporal rise and/or fall of troponin levels characteristic of myocardial Infarction.
Troponin results differ between methods due to selection of testing instrumentation. Do not use results between different Emory laboratories interchangeably.
