BreathID HP Two Test- Urea Breath Test kit for H. pylori (obtain from clinical lab)
Patient Preparation
This test requires fasting. Patient should have had nothing to eat or drink (to include water and chewing gum) for 1 hour before administering the BreathID HP Two Test.
Remind the patient that the Pranactin-citric drink that will be administered contains phenylalanine (one of the protein components of Aspartame). Phenylketonurics restrict dietary phenylalanine.
The patient should not have taken antimicrobials within 2 weeks prior to administering the BreathID HP Two Test.
It is strongly recommended that the patient should not have taken proton pump inhibitors( e.g. Aciphex, Nexium, Prevacid, Prilosec, Protonix, Zegerid) or bismuth preparations (e.g. Pepto Bismol) within 2 weeks prior to administration.
Histamine 2-receptor antagonists (e.g. Axid, Pepcid, Tagamet, Zantac) may be discontinued for 24-48 hours before using BreathID HP Two Test.
Antacids do not appear to affect the accuracy of the test.
For administration by healthcare professional only. Do not provide this kit to the patient for self-administration.
It is recommended to refrain from mouthwash, carbonated beverages, or cigarette smoke during the fasting period.
If patient vomits, is unable to complete the drink, or eats something between the two collections, repeat the test 24 hours later.

Critical room temperature:Do not refrigerate or freeze samples
