OUTPATIENTS: SEND TO LAB ON SAME DAY AS COLLECTED.
For Outpatients NOT receiving heparin, the specimen is stable for 10 hours at room temperature.
Collect
1
Blue top tube (Na Citrate); invert tube gently at least 5 times to prevent clotting
Fill tube completely (i.e., wait until vacuum stops). Do not combine partially filled tubes. Do not open tube, remove plasma, or refrigerate.
