Preferred:  4 mL Dark Green, no Gel (lithium heparin) Whole blood.
Acceptable:
 4.5 mL Green with gel (PST), (lithium heparin plasma) DO NOT CENTRIFUGE before testing.


 

Unacceptable Conditions

  • Sample not properly identified
  • Incorrect container
  • Insufficient sample volume
  • Citrate, EDTA, Sodium fluoride or oxalate anticoagulants

Storage/Transport Temperature

Internal: Deliver to lab immediately.
Offsite: Must be received within 60 minutes of collection.  Do not centrifuge.  Transport at ambient temperature.
 

Stability (from collection to initiation)

Ambient: 1 hour.
