Pediatric Collection

Fill 1 pediatric 1.8 mL Sodium Citrate (Blue) Tube.  You must immediately invert

the tube 3-4 times.

Unacceptable Conditions

Aliquot type not properly identified, clotted specimen, not frozen if required per stability conditions. Preferrred specimen is original tube unspun, ambient.

Storage/Transport Temperature

Original Tube unspun ambient.

Stability (from collection to initiation)

Ambient: 24 hrs capped unspun; 2 hrs uncapped/spun; Frozen: One week

Do not refrigerate specimen.

Draw one full light blue top tube (blood-to-anticoagulant is critical). Refer to the "Hemostasis/Thromobosis Specimen Collection" link below for processing information if specimen needs to be frozen.
