Specimen Preparation
CCHMC Outpatient Lab: Transport centrifiged, unopened, refrigerated Lithium Heparin plasma or Sodium Heparin whole blood within 24 hours to CCHMC Processing Department.
Lab Processing Instructions: Blood should be centrifuged and separated from cells immediately after receipt if not already centrifuged. Transfer plasma or serum into a polypropylene tube, then cap and immediately freeze at -80 C.

Outside providers and researchers: Mail frozen on dry ice Monday - Thursday only.
CCHMC processors: Transport to Special Chemistry Lab frozen.
