Fresh stool is not acceptable for submission to Quest Diagnostics. If fresh stool is received by the CCHMC Laboratory for Quest testing, the specimen must be transferred into the appropriate Para-Pak® transport container before being sent to Quest.

Not recommended for patients who have been hospitalized for >3 days. Do not use antacids, barium, bismuth, antidiarrheal medication, or oily laxatives prior to collection of specimen.
Three stool samples collected on alternate days over a 7 day period is recommended.
