Specimen Preparation

Specimen must be whole blood.

Mix well by gentle inversion 8-10 times immediately after collection.

Do NOT centrifuge.

Minimum Volume

Tube must be >90% full to ensure proper 1:9 ratio of anticoagulation to blood.

Unacceptable Conditions

  • Clotted specimens
  • Specimens that have been centrifuged
  • Frozen specimens

Stability (from collection to initiation)

Ambient: 24 hours

Refrigerated: 24 hours

Frozen: Unacceptable
