Collection Comments
Do not collect in Orange tube. Reflex test - All positives will be titered to endpoint. Process within 2 hrs of collection. Allow Gold tube to sit for 30 minutes to form clot. Spin for 10 minutes at 1100-1300 g in a swing bucket unit or 15 minutes in afixed angle to separate cells from serum. Refrigerate spun tube. Transfer 1 mL(minimum 0.15 mL) serum to a standard ARUP transport tube. Ship refrigerated. Remember to properly label tube with patient name, DOB, test and collect date.
After separation from cells: Ambient: 2 days; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 1 year (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)
