Required Specimen Volume:
Patients <4 years old - two lavender microtainers
Patients 4-12 years old - one 6 mL lavender tube is preferred, one 3 mL lavender tube may be accepted
Patients 13+ years old - one 6 mL lavender tube
The Medical Technologist may request additional specimen depending on the patient's age, the patient's hematocrit, and/or the presence of atypical antibodies.
Storage/Transport Temperature
Room Temperature or Refrigerated. Refrigerate after 24 hours.
