Collection Comments
Collect the blood sample within 24 hours of the urine collection. Refrigerate during collection. Record the total volume and collection dates and times.
Invert tube 8-10 times to mix blood with anticoagulant. Spin for 10 minutes at 1100-1300g in a swing bucket unit or for 15 minutes in a fixed angle. Ship spun Lt. Green tube. Remember to properly label the tube with the patient's name, DOB, test name, and collection date/time.
Storage/Transport Temperature
Refrigerated urine and plasma. Aliquot into No Additive tube. Record total volume and collection interval.
Creatinine clearance (CCr or CrCl) is defined as the volume of plasma cleared of creatinine during a specified time interval. Creatinine clearance is an approximation of the glomerular filtration rate (GFR). The creatinine clearance test is ordered as a sensitive test for renal function.
