Submitting personnel must verify source by writing on Cerner label and providing signature.
Using appropriate sterile technique during intra-abdominal surgery/laparoscopy, instill a physiologic solution into the pelvic cavity. Lavage the area of interest. Aspirate the solution and place in a container of Shandon’s fixative, or add an equal volume of Shandon’s fixative to the specimen.
