Collection Comments
Obtain an adequate sample from the endocervix using the endocervical brush device. Insert the brush into the cervix until only the bottom fibers are exposed. Slowly rotate ¼ or ½ turn in one direction. Rinse the brush as soon as possible in the SurePath vial solution, then break off the detachable brush head into a SurePath vial and label the container with proper patient identification before sending to the cytology lab for processing.
Submitting personnel must verify source by writing on Cerner label and providing signature.
