Whole blood collected in BD Vacutainer PPT Plasma Preparation Tubes for Molecular Diagnostic Test Methods or in sterile tubes using EDTA as the anticoagulant; may be stored and/or transported for up to 24 hours at
2-25°C prior to plasma preparation.
Upon separation, store plasma samples as follows:
Storage in primary (if PPT) or secondary tubes for up to 6 days at 2-8°C.
Storage in secondary tubes for up to 6 months at -15°C to -80°C.
Plasma samples are stable for up to four freeze/thaw cycles when frozen at -15°C to -80°C.
If samples are to be shipped, package and label in compliance with applicable country and/or international regulations covering the transport of samples and etiologic agents.
This assay is intended for use as an aid in the management of BKV in transplant patients. In patients undergoing monitoring of BKV in EDTA plasma, serial DNA measurements can be used to indicate the need for potential treatment changes and to assess viral response to treatment.
