Only DNA isolated from CLIA-certified laboratories or laboratories meeting equivalent requirements as determined by the CAP and/or the CMS is accepted for testing.

Samples must be received M-F by 1 PM. Samples received after this time will be stored and processed the next business day.

If there are blood draw limitations for babies or small children, one 10 ml ACD tube (8.5 ml draw) or one 3 ml ACD tube (2.5 ml draw) should be sufficient, as long as the individual's WBC is ≥ 1.0. In these cases, please call the HLA Laboratory at extension 3526.

For previously transplanted patients, peripheral blood may show mixed chimerism. Collect buccal swab in these cases.

Blood specimens should not be collected from patients who have recently received chemotherapy or granulocyte transfusions, have a high wbc/leukemic burden, or have been previously transplanted. In these cases, collect a buccal swab sample.

Keep Specimen at Room Temperature prior to sending to Laboratory Support.
