One 2.7 mL blue top (3.2% sodium citrate)

Minimum volume:   0.5 mL platelet poor plasma, in a polypropylene transport tube

0.5 mL of platelet poor plasma.

Clotted sample; tube fill volume less than 70% or greater than 110%; more than 8 hours since collection; sample not properly identified; incorrect container; insufficient sample volume.

Internal: Deliver to lab immediately at ambient temperature.
Offsite: If sample will not be delivered within 8 hours, separate plasma from cells, place in polypropylene transport tube, and send frozen.

Daily

Whole blood: Ambient, 8 hours.

Platelet poor plasma aliquot: Ambient, 8 hours; Refrigerated, not applicable; Frozen (-20 degrees C), 2 weeks;  Frozen (-70 degrees C), 6 months.
