Special Instructions

COV19 assay method is based on patient testing priority, determined by the care provider with the iCentra COVID PowerPlan

It is extremely important to screen patients until there are no further limitations on testing capacity. Additional assistance with risk assessment: iCentra order algorithm, Score Line 801-50-SCORE (providers only), and Connect Care 801-442-4457

Ordering Recommendations

Testing will not be performed without a completed patient history form:
2019 Novel Coronavirus qualitative PCR outpatient order and patient history form

Form must be submitted with specimen

Performed

Sun-Sat

Methodology

Real Time PCR

Reference Interval

Not detected (NDE)

Includes

The oligonucleotide primers and probes for detection of 2019-nCoV were selected from regions of the virus nucleocapsid (N) gene. The panel is designed for both universal detection of SARS-like coronaviruses (one primer/probe set) as well as specific detection of the 2019-nCoV (two primer/probe sets). An additional primer/probe set to detect the human RNase P gene (RP) in control samples and clinical specimens is included in the panel.
