Pediatric Collection

Sediplast – Lavender tube containing EDTA. Must have at least 1cc. If microtainers are collected, at LEAST two completely filled (to the 500 mark) must be collected. Seditainer – Collect blood directly into the black top vacutainer. This tube contains 1.25ml of 0.105M buffered sodium citrate. The tube must have at least 5ml of blood in order to maintain the 1:4 additive to blood ratio.

Unacceptable Conditions

Clotted specimens should be rejected EDTA vacutainers, EDTA microtainers or the special WSR black tops are the only acceptable tube types. No other anticoagulant may be used.
