Testing must be scheduled with Core Lab Coagulation at 859-257-1377

Collect

Onsite Collection:    (Chandler)
Testing must be scheduled with Core Lab Coagulation at 859-257-1377. Mix by inversion. Specimens should arrive at lab within 30 minutes of collection; transport at room temperature.

Offsite Collection:
Contact Core Lab Coagulation at 859-257-1377 to schedule test.  The patient must have specimen collected at UK Chandler or KY Clinic Lab due to specimen stability.

Collect 5 - Blue Sodium Citrate containers, allowing blood to fill to the fill-line.  If utilizing a butterfly needle during collection, a waste tube must be collected prior to collecting the samples for testing, ensuring air has been expelled from the line.  Panel also requires a lavender container for platelet count & hematocrit.

Preferred Container

5 - Blue - Sodium citrate (2.7 mL) container
1 - Lavender EDTA

Preferred Collection Volume

Completely filled to fill-line (2.7 mL tube, 1.8 mL pediatric tube)

Specimen Preparation

Specimens should arrive in lab within 30 minutes of collection; deliver directly to coagulation tech.

Pediatric Collection

5 - Blue - Sodium citrate (1.8 mL) container filled to the fill-line.  If utilizing a butterfly needle during collection, a waste tube must be collected prior to collecting the sample for testing, ensuring air has been expelled from the line. Panel also requires a lavender container for platelet count & hematocrit.
