The physician may directly request the necessary material from an outside hospital or laboratory, or may ask Surgical Pathology to initiate the request. When requesting outside material, request a copy of the pathology report. Provide written verification identifying the slides as belonging to the patient.

Test Includes

Review of anatomic pathology slides prepared elsewhere.

Turnaround Time

Performed Mon-Fri, 0800-1600; results are reported within 2-3 days; when rush, reviewed upon receipt.

Specimen Type

Microscopic slides prepared elsewhere; consulting pathologists may request paraffin blocks from referring institution when additional studies are deemed necessary.

Store at room temperature.

Ship in slides in protective holder at room temperature.
