Do not collect in Orange tube. Allow Gold tube to sit for 30 minutes to form clot. Spin for 10 minutes at 1100-1300 g in a swing bucket unit or 15 minutes in a fixed angle to separate cells from serum. Refrigerate spun tube. Remember to properly label tube with patient name, DOB, test and collect date. Serum from Red tube and plasma from a Green tube must be transfered to an aliquot tube
The Cardiolipin IgG Ser QN test measures plasma IgG antibodies to cardiolipin; cardiolipin is a lipid component of the mitochondrial membrane. Cardiolipin antibody testing is used with the lupus anticoagulant and Beta 2 Glycoprotein antibody tests, in the evaluation of a patient for possible antiphospholipid syndrome. This test may be ordered when there is a history of unexplained clotting episodes, recurrent miscarriages, a prolonged PTT test result or to determine if a patient with an autoimmune disorder also has anti-cardiolipin IgG antibodies.
