The CBC (complete blood count) with/Differential test includes the tests in the CBC plus the leukocyte differential. Both the percentage and absolute number of leukocyte sub-types are included in the test report. The CBC (complete blood count) is a commonly ordered panel of tests that provides the patient's physician with information about the cellular elements of the blood. The CBC panel consists of the following tests: Hgb (hemoglobin concentration), Hematocrit (% of blood volume that is erythrocytes), WBC (number of white blood cells: leukocytes), RBC (number of erythrocytes; red blood cells), MCV (mean corpuscular volume; the average size of the patient's erythrocytes), MCH (mean corpuscular hemoglobin; the average amount of hemoglobin in an erythrocyte), MCHC (mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration; average erythrocyte % hemoglobin), RDW (red blood cell distribution width; calculation of erythrocyte size variation), platelets (number of platelets) and MPV (mean platelet volume) calculation.
*The panel will also include MDW (monocyte distribution width) for ED patients, 18 - 89 years of age, at Methodist, IU North, IU West, Arnett, and Bloomington Hospitals.
