Invert tube 8-10 times to mix blood with anticoagulant. Process within 2 hours of collection. Spin for 10 minutes at 1100-1300 g in a swing bucket unit or 15 minutes in a fixed angle. Ship spun Lt Green or Gold tube. Remember to properly label tube with patient name, DOB, test and collect date.
Uric acid is a catabolic product of purine metabolism. The serum uric acid test may be ordered when there is a suspicion of gout, renal stones or kidney disease.
