Patients with inflammatory diseases of the central nervous system (e.g., multiple sclerosis) may have increased IgG in their CSF. The CSF index is an indicator of the relative amount of CSF IgG compared to their serum IgG. The CSF Index is a calculated result based on the serum albumin and IgG as well as CSF albumin and IgG.
