Collection Comments
Collect saliva specimen from neonate (<21 days old) by placing swab in neonate's mouth: allow swab to absorb saliva. Specimens can be stored with refrigeration (2-8°C) for up to 7 days. For longer storage of samples, keep at -20°C for up to 14 days. Specimens should be collected at least 1 hour after breast feeding.
Urine specimens should be processed within 2 hours post collection if stored at room temperature, or within 8 hours post collected if transported on ice and stored at 2-8°C.
