Patient Preparation

Needle aspirate or routine venipuncture.

Collect

Bone Marrow or whole blood in lavender-top (EDTA) vacutainer.
>2 mL bone marrow aspirate or >5 mL of blood.

Additional Requirements

Pre-transplant patient and donor samples: 1) Archived DNA: DNA will be available in the CUMC Immunogenetics and Cellular Immunology from prior HLA genotyping testing during the pre-transplant evaluation. 2) Archived peripheral blood leukocytes (PBL): If DNA of pre-transplant patient and donor is not available, previous frozen PBL can be obtained from the CUMC Immunogenetics and Cellular Immunology from prior HLA genotyping testing during the pre-transplant evaluation.

Unacceptable Conditions

Broken tube, mismatched or missing labels, coagulated, blood >48 hours old, bone marrow >72 hours old, insufficient cellularity, improper anticoagulation, viability <50%, no history provided

Storage/Transport Temperature

Room temperature. Do not freeze.

Stability (from collection to initiation)

48 hours at room temperature (blood), 72 hours at room temperature (bone marrow).

Performed
