The information provided in the Test Menu includes EPIC and LIS (Laboratory Information System) test IDs, test names, specimen collection requirements, reference values, methods of analysis, and CPT codes. Reference ranges listed are for adults. Age and gender specific reference ranges, if applicable, are reported with each test result in EPIC(HIS).

Laboratory tests not performed by Renown Lab Services are sent to ARUP. Additional reference tests and related information is available at http://www.aruplab.com.

The preferred specimen collection container size and type are indicated for each test. In many cases, multiple tests ordered concurrently can be performed from the same collection container type.

Exceptions include:

  • When Hematology tests (CBC or ESR) and Transfusion Services tests (Type and Screen or COD) are collected at the same time, two EDTA tubes must be collected, one 4 mL Lavender top and one 6 mL Pink top.
  • When Chemistry tests (CMP or BMP) and Cardiac Marker tests (CKMB, MYO, or TROP) are collected at the same time, two 4.0 mL Lithium Heparin tubes (Green Top) must be collected.
  • When Coagulation tests, PT, PTT, and Platelet Function Analysis, are collected at the same time, two 2.7 mL Sodium Citrate tubes (Blue Top) must be collected. (Note: PFA must be collected at the Pringle Lab location due to specimen handling requirements)

Please call Renown Regional Clinical Laboratory at 775-982-4152 or Renown South Meadows Clinical Laboratory at 775-982-7152 to verify specimen collection requirements
