Heme samples : one 4.5 mL blood in EDTA (lav top), or one 3 mL bone marrow in EDTA (min 0.5mL or >100K nucleated cells). Yellow top (ACD) Vacutainers are also acceptable. Fresh tissue: min 0.1 mL Frozen tissue: min 100mg or 0.5 cc / 0.5 cm3 Body Fluids: >200K cells Formalin-Fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue (FFPE). Please include the surgical pathology report with an estimate of tumor cellularity in the marked region.
Microtainer: 3 - 5 µM slices or more than 100,000 cells. Slides: Provide 10 unstained slides with 10 µM slices, along with an associated H&E slide where tumor cells are clearly marked
Storage/Transport Temperature
Heme samples: 20-25 °C for several hours acceptable Fresh tissue should be sent in saline-soaked gauze, a tube with saline, or tissue culture medium. Frozen samples should be sent on dry ice. FFPE samples may be transported at ambient temperature; however, they should be protected from exposure to excessive heat during transit to maintain specimen integrity.
Unacceptable Conditions
Sample is rejected if specimen identity is in doubt.
Remarks
This test is lab-ordered only.
Stability (from collection to initiation)
Ambient: 72 hours: Refrigerated: 1 week Fresh tissue should be sent in saline soaked gauze, a tube with saline, or tissue culture medium. Frozen samples should be sent on dry ice. FFPE samples: Ambient: Up to 60 days recommended. FFPE samples stored ambient beyond 60 days are not refused. Acceptability is determined by testing performance.
