Aid in diagnosis and monitoring of glucagonoma.

Patient Preparation

Fast 8-12 hours prior to collection.

Collection Instructions

This test can only be collected at the following Patient Service Center: SMH Outpatient Laboratory 1-1345 and Strong West Patient Service Center.

Must be delivered to Reference Lab within one hour.

Collect

Lavender or pink (K2EDTA or K3EDTA).

Specimen Preparation

Mix well. Separate from cells within 1 hour of collection. Transfer 2 mL plasma to an ARUP standard transport tube. (Min: 0.5 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature

Frozen. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.

Unacceptable Conditions

Hemolyzed, lipemic, icteric or clotted specimens.

Stability (from collection to initiation)

After separation from cells: Ambient: 4 hours; Refrigerated: 3 days; Frozen: 1 month
