Collect
Serum Separator Tube
Specimen Preparation
Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature, followed by centrifugation to separate serum from cells. Send clotted/centrifuged tube to lab for testing.
Storage/Transport Temperature
Transport specimen to laboratory at Room Temperature
Unacceptable Conditions
Plasma.
Severly lipemic, or hemolyzed specimens
Stability (from collection to initiation)
After separation of serum from cells: Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerate: 10 days; Frozen: > 10 days
