Ordering Recommendations

The 4 in 1 test is intended for the primary diagnosis of Influenza A, Influenza B, RSV or COVID-19. This 4 in 1 combo test is to be used when Influenza infection status will alter treatment decisions, such as when the patient is eligible for Influenza retroviral therapy.

Collect

Nasopharyngeal swabs (flexible rayon-tipped applicators) are the only acceptable specimens for testing.
Collect specimen by insertion of NP swab into one nostril and back to the nasopharynx.
Swab back and forth, or rotate the swab over the mucosa surface.
Place swab in Viral Transport Media (UTM).

Storage/Transport Temperature

Refrigerated

Place Nasopharyngeal Swabs (Flexible Rayon-Tipped Applicators) into Universal Transport Medium (UTM/VTM/M4).

Standard Volume

One nasopharyngeal swab in 2-3 mL viral transport media

Unacceptable Conditions

Specimens received outside of stated stability limits.
Dry swabs not in listed transport media.
Alternate specimen sources and transport media have not been validated with this assay and will not be tested.
