Welcome to Scripps Medical Laboratories (SML)

Scripps Medical Laboratories provide quality laboratory testing for Scripps inpatients, Scripps outpatients, and outreach clients. In addition SML supports the testing needs of clinical trials and research studies. Complementing the state of the art Central Laboratory location are the five hospital laboratories, the two community-based rapid response laboratories and an extensive network of 19 Patient Service Centers (PSC) located across San Diego County.

The Test Directory is a comprehensive and practical guide to our laboratory services. It includes test ordering information, specimen type and volume, special instructions, delivery information, critical values, as well as reference ranges with units of measure.

Scripps Medical Laboratories are fully accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), licensed by the State of California, and comply with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amedments (CLIA).

Announcement: Effective March 28, 2022, Scripps Sorrento Mesa Core Laboratory will begin using the Abbott Alinity ci integrated clinical chemistry and immunoassay platform. Scripps Rancho Bernardo and Jefferson Laboratories will use the Abbott Alinity c chemistry system. Click the link below for information on the new reference ranges.
