The St. Joseph's/Candler Health System, Inc. ("SJ/C") Laboratories are clinical laboratories dedicated to providing the highest quality of services to our community, patients, and providers. The SJ/C Laboratories participate in the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Laboratory Accreditation Program and have Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) certifications through the Center for Medical and Medicaid Services (CMS). The SJ/C Laboratories are full-service laboratories offering diagnostic services, pathology services, and outreach reference laboratory services.

Implementation of PCR/Molecular testing for Strep B (Streptococcus agalactiae) - Effective 9/9/2025
The PCR testing will allow a quicker turn-around time for both positive and negative specimens compared to the traditional culture-based methods. The collection methodology will remain the same as the Strep B culture (Liquid Amies E-Swab). Specimens can be stored/transported at room temperature if received within 24hrs of collection or specimens may be stored at 2–8 °C for up to
two days.
Transition of the Hepatitis B Surface Antibody, Quantitative reporting to our current in-house test order - Effective 9/15/2025
The Hepatitis B Surface Antibody will be reported with both the quantitative and the qualitative result interpretation. This will replace the the Hepatitis B Surface Antibody, Quant currently performed by a reference laboratory. The testing methodology will remain the same on the Siemens Atellica platform. Please continue to collect samples in a Gold Serum Separator Tube (SST) or Light Green Lithium Heparin Tube.
