Specimen Preparation

Collect using a flocked swab placed in M6/VTM/UTM

Unacceptable Conditions

  • Sources other than NP swabs (see lower respiratory order for lower respiratory sources).
  • ESwab®.
  • Dry swabs (i.e., not placed in VTM).
  • Wooden-shafted, calcium alginate, or cotton swabs.
  • Sample not properly identified, incorrect container, insufficient volume, or past stability.
