Remarks

Alternative sources to nasal swab for in-house Fluvid PCR testing include: nasopharyngeal swab, oropharyngeal swab, or nasal wash. Please limit testing of these sources to patients who cannot have a nasal swab collected. Ensure specimen is clearly marked as the alternate source. 

Note:  If respiratory pathogens other than Flu, RSV and/or Covid are desired, please ensure a nasopharyngeal swab is collected and consider ordering "Respiratory Viral PCR Panel.” (Click here for information on the RVP test.)
